Welcome to HKR Counselling
In this modern world where there are so many ways to stay connected, we can often feel isolated and alone. I am here to offer you my 35 year experience of caring for people in the community at some of their most difficult times.
As a BACP accredited counsellor, I specialise in counselling individual adults for anxiety, relationships, bereavement and loss caused by situations that changed your life, events that you had no control over. They can arrive unannounced and unexpected turning your world upside down. .
The key to all of my specialisms are relationships. Either the one you have with yourself, others or the things that have changed in your life. How we learnt to relate to others in our early years often impacts our future relationships.

What Do I Offer?
I offer Person-Centred, CBT and creative counselling. Which simply means I have
differing tools with which to work to find the right one for you! Person-centred is at the heart of all counselling. It puts you at the centre of everything as we work together; I hope to help you relax and explore your thoughts without judgement in a private, safe environment. There's no scary questions or tricks, just a safe space for you to unravel your thoughts and feelings.
I'm passionate about making a difference to my client's lives and believe 'talking therapies' can have long term benefits that enable you to make changes in complete confidence. This way of working may enable you to understand those trigger points within the body, finding ways to recognise and regulate. My experience is diverse, informed by up-to-date research.
Currently, I work Face 2 Face from my home, online, telephone and Walk and Talk outdoors.

Face to Face may be your preference. It offers the opportunity for co-regulation where one nervous system may calm the other through body language, tone and pitch of voice.

Online or telephone has many benefits too. Including: The sanctuary of being in your own home, in a place that feels safe for you, comfortable clothes, your pets around you, a comfy sofa and a cup of tea.

All that’s required is a good internet connection, a computer, laptop or smartphone and private space. Headphones increase the feeling of privacy.
Where I work ...
Walk and Talk Sessions
Walk and Talk allows you to explore and regulate those thoughts and feelings with the rhythm of nature. The elements can deepen the experience whilst offering a sense of freedom from traditional face to face therapy. The benefits of being outside can reduce stress and anxiety.
